Bids for the cemetery mowing contract were revisited by Winamac Town Council members when they met in a special session on Friday.
When the bids were initially opened during the council’s regularly scheduled meeting in December, one included a quote of $2,650 per time and the second bidder offered to do the cemetery mowing for $2,100 per time.
The lower bid came from Dan Vanaman’s mowing company but members discovered that the name of the first bidder was not included in the documents that were submitted for council consideration. They decided to take the bids under advisement and Town Manager Brad Zellers said he would work to determine who the bid came from.
When members met last week, Zellers said he found out that the first bid came from Jason Brown. Council members chose to award the contract to Vanaman since his price per mow came in $550 less than Brown’s.
