The City of Knox will soon be providing a space to give local businesses a chance to grow.
Mayor Dennis Estok told council members Tuesday night that a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the new “Pop-Up Store” at 10 S. Main Street will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th.
According to information provided through the Mayor’s Office, this program is designed to attract small businesses and create retail shopping in the downtown area.
Low start up fees will be offered to small businesses with the hope of giving them a head start in becoming successful. Business owners will be able to sell and showcase products and services of interest to area residents and tourists.
At the open house, people will be able to check out the building and pick up an application to rent out space. Applications can also be picked up at the Mayor’s Office prior to the open house.
In a promotional flier for the event, officials noted that they will strive to provide diversity in their vendor offerings and applications will be reviewed with that in mind. If selected, an agreement will be provided and a location assignment will be made by city officials.
