Pulaski County Commissioners Approve Contract for Email Switch, After Months of Discussions

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

Pulaski County employees will be getting a new email system. Last week, the county commissioners approved a contract with Golden Tech, to switch the county over to the Office 365 email system.

IT Director Matt Voltz first presented the proposal back in January, but on three separate occasions, the commissioners decided to hold off. First, it was because the county’s judges wanted to research if the system would be compatible with the court software they’re planning to use. Then, they wanted to give County Attorney Kevin Tankersley a chance to review it. After that, there were concerns that the document Tankersley reviewed might be different from the one the commissioners were being asked to sign.

During last week’s meeting, Tankersley said all the paperwork met his approval. When the commissioners gave department heads one last chance to weigh in, Assessor Holly VanDerAa said the new system sounded okay but she hadn’t gotten a lot of information. Sheriff Jeff Richwine said that in the meeting he attended with Voltz, everyone seemed happy with it.

Voltz previously explained that the county will pay Golden Tech $15,000 a year for maintenance, plus a one-time setup charge of $2,400. The contract was approved unanimously.
