Pulaski County, Hamlet Among Recipients of Winter 2019 Community Crossings Matching Grants

Pulaski County and Hamlet are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding for road improvements. The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced the recipients of the winter round of Community Crossings matching grants.

Pulaski County was awarded just over $877,000. Plans call for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road.

Hamlet got nearly $258,000. The town is looking to repave Railroad Street west of Starke Street, along with some possible drainage improvements.

Both Hamlet and Pulaski County will be required to provide a 25-percent local match. INDOT says it received 229 grant applications in this latest round, and 189 cities, towns, and counties ended up being awarded a combined $115 million. State officials expect to have another $100 million available for the summer call for projects.
