West Central School Superintendent Don Street will be taking over as the superintendent at the Kankakee Valley School Corporation.
The Kankakee Valley School Board members officially approved Street’s employment to the superintendent’s position during their meeting on Monday night.
Street has been at the West Central School Corporation for 18 years. He served as the high school principal from 2001 to 2012 and as the middle/high school principal from 2012 to 2014. He has been the superintendent since 2014.
Street said he’s looking forward to the new challenge.
“This decision is very bittersweet,” commented Street. “The West Central School Corporation is an outstanding school district. I’ve been truly blessed and honored to have served at West Central. An opportunity has presented itself for me to go to Kankakee Valley School Corporation and I am truly honored and humbled to be able to go to Kankakee Valley to serve as their superintendent.”
Street’s final day at West Central will be June 30. He will begin at the Kankakee Valley School Corporation on July 1.
West Central School Board President Todd Miller noted the school board’s appreciation of Street’s dedication to the school corporation and it’s the board’s goal to continue in a positive direction.
The West Central School Board will soon begin the process of hiring the next superintendent.
