During this time, motorists are asked to avoid areas where they see crews working. Mayor Estok mentioned that the process may result in some temporary discoloration.
He explained, “When they start flushing, you will get iron in your water sometimes because it stirs it out so if something happens and you get a little color, that’s what it is.”
In a past press release about the procedure, city officials noted that while the water will still be safe to consume and use, the color can be cleared up by running cold water from a bathtub or an outside faucet.
