Knox BOW Considers Bids for Sludge Removal at Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Knox Board of Works members amended their agenda Wednesday morning to include a bid opening for sludge removal at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

During the BOW meeting in March, Wastewater Superintendent Kelly Clemons informed the board that there was approximately 250,000 gallons of the sludge material.

Members considered two bids this month. A bid of $10,800 was submitted by J&K Excavating and Mark Milo Enterprises, Inc submitted a bid of $29,960. Superintendent Clemons noted that representatives from each business took advantage of the opportunity to come out to the plant to see what they would be hauling.

Mayor Dennis Estok recommended going with the lowest bidder under the condition that a contract would be drawn up requiring the company to stick to the price that was submitted in their bid. A motion to that effect was made and passed with a unanimous vote.
