West Central Middle/High School Principal Scott Ritchie recently testified before committee members at the Indiana Statehouse, according to Superintendent Don Street.
“Mr. Ritchie testified concerning the graduation pathways and the amount of time that will be spent by guidance counselors and other school employees in tracking the graduation pathways,” said Street. “It’s kind of like a scorecard, if you will, like doing service projects and keeping track of that throughout the year is one example.”
The guidance counselors are already working to dissect test data and to complete state reports. With the graduation pathways, they will also need to ensure they are tracking how students are able to meet the requirements of employability skills and display postsecondary-ready competencies as they travel through the upper grade levels.
In January, the West Central School Board the possibility of hiring a District Data Test Coordinator and the responsibilities that go with that position to alleviate the job of test data compilation from the guidance counselors so they can be free to spend time with students and their social and emotional needs.
The board members on Thursday, April 4, did approve the transfer of Marci Kennedy into that position.
