Repairs Needed at Republican Central Committee Building Shared with Knox BOW

Knox’s Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost recently informed Board of Works members about an order to repair that was issued at 13 N. Main Street.

Pfost explained that the structure is the Republican Central Committee Building.  He said he reached out to Republican Don White and was told that they’ve been planning to make necessary repairs but they were waiting for better weather.

He noted that he knows the matters won’t be resolved immediately. Pfost told members he feels he gave them an ample amount of time to address the code violations and then described some of the issues.

Pfost explained, “I know it’s going to be a pretty extensive project with the chimney leaning and everything like that needs to be redone, there’s quite a bit of water damage too and the a lot of the framing is rotted but I just wanted to make you aware of that.”

Board member Jim Collins asked if they’ll need to acquire a permit to perform the work. Director Pfost responded that officials say they intend to establish a parking area toward the back, west portion of the building which will require a permit.
