The Starke County Council members will meet tonight where they will consider an appropriation for FEMA reimbursement from last year’s flooding event. Surveyor Bill Crase will update the board on the amount the county is expected to receive.
Assessor Michelle Snowdon will present a request for new computers for her office. She explained to the Starke County Commissioners on April 1 that the software will no longer be supported after this year and six new computers are needed. She presented a quote to the commissioners from Dell for six computer towers, plus connectors and Microsoft licenses at a cost of $5,790.96 which is money she doesn’t have in her budget. The commissioners approved the request and advised her that funding for the purchase will need to be taken up with the council members.
The Starke County Council members will meet at 5:30 p.m. tonight followed by the Starke County Commissioners meeting at 6 p.m.
A Midwest Glacial Lakes partnership grant and beach permit will be reviewed along with a proposal for fire panel upgrades. Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin will go over proposed ordinances for the leash law, alarm calls and dog nuisance calls, all of which will be considered on second reading.
Both meetings will be held in the first floor meeting room of the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox. All who plan to attend are required to enter through the Pearl Street entrance and go through a security checkpoint.
