The West Central School Board took time last week to look at the corporation’s Annual Performance Review for 2018.
Superintendent Don Street said the information is provided by the Indiana Department of Education whose professionals compile data from all of the West Central schools and the corporation as a whole.
“Most of the data has been released periodically throughout the year, but the performance review paper gives a condensed version and compares it to the state,” said Street.
Street said the list of data listed was thorough.
“It gives our A-F accountability grade so West Central was a C this past year. Our percent of Career and Technical diplomas we’re at 20.8 percent where the state average is 6.7 percent. The percent of students in Special Education – we’re at 19.2 percent and the state average is at 16. Our percent of students receiving free and reduced price lunches was at 56.9 percent and the state average is at 49.6 percent. Our Trojan Opportunity Academy has allowed our students to take alternative education classes. We have 5.6 percent of our student population involved. Statewide it’s at 1.62 percent because many school corporations do not have that.”
Among other statistics, it also includes ISTEP data, graduation and attendance percentages.
The report was for board review at this time.
