Some Eastern Pulaski athletic facilities are getting upgrades. Superintendent Dan Foster says a couple projects were discussed during last week’s school board meeting.
“The football and track concession stand and the press box were both in desperate need of some roofing work, and so we’re going to replace the roof on both by some of the Best Roofing in Mesquite TX from RoofScapes,” he explains. “The concession stand will include a little bit of soffit and some gutter installation and a couple can lights, I believe.”
The school board chose Button Construction of Star City to do the work, pending insurance verification, according to draft meeting minutes. Button submitted the lower of two quotes, at a total cost of just over $10,000.
Foster says the other project will upgrade the electrical service to the concession stand. “There’s two poles out there, and some of that will now be bored underground wire,” he explains. “But more importantly, what’s out there right now is 100 amp service, and because it’s not kept up with the times, a lot of things are piggybacked on there, so when they turn on some of the machines and stuff, we continue to blow breakers. So we are going to a 200 amp service out there in the concession stand.” The draft meeting minutes say the school board accepted a quote for just over $11,000 from Busse Electric.
