Knox PD to Host Golf Cart Inspection and Registration Day This Saturday

Though it may not seem like it with this week’s rainy weather, golf cart season is right around the corner.

The Knox Police Department will host a registration event this weekend to make sure residents will be ready to roll when the time comes.

Police Chief Harold Smith informed the Board of Works last week that the golf cart inspection and registration day will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The event will take place at the Knox Police Department, located at 101 W. Washington Street.

In order to drive a golf cart on any city streets, a vehicle inspection is required and an up-to-date Knox Golf Cart Permit (KGCP) must be visibly affixed to the golf cart whenever it is being operated.

The fee for a permit is $25 for day use only and $30 for one that would allow operation during the day and night.

Vehicles authorized for nighttime operation will have a different colored sticker.

All Golf Carts must be inspected by Knox PD before they can be deemed roadworthy

Chief Smith previously noted that residents with night permits are only able to drive the vehicles on city streets up to 11 p.m.

The renewed KGCP shall be valid for one calendar year, which will run from June 1st through May 31stof the following year.

2018 registration will be considered valid until May 31st, after that it will be expired. However, with this upcoming event planned, there’s no reason to wait until the last minute to get your vehicle inspected and registered with the city.
