The Knox School Board took action Monday to correct an issue with this year’s budget. Board members gave their permission for another $1.3 million to be spent on personal services in the Education Fund.
The issue stemmed from some apparent confusion with the new school funding structure that took effect in Indiana this year. Treasurer Kasey Clark explains that when the 2019 budget was made last year, the principal and athletic director salaries were placed in the Operations Fund, when they should have been in the Education Fund.
The school corporation had hired an outside consultant to help former treasurer Dawn Bailey with the budgeting process last year, in part, to cut down on the risk for mistakes.
