The next West Central school superintendent is expected to be named next Thursday. Outgoing Superintendent Don Street says the school board has identified a candidate, and a public hearing was held over a proposed contract this week.
The three-year agreement calls for an annual salary of $94,000 for the 2019-2020 school year, going up to $97,000 by 2021-2022, along with a number of benefits. The contract would take effect July 1.
No comments were offered during Thursday’s hearing, according to Street. Since Indiana Code requires that seven days pass between that hearing and the official hiring, Street says board members scheduled a special meeting for Thursday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Street is leaving West Central to take over as superintendent at the Kankakee Valley School Corporation.
