Knox School Board Accepts Retirement of Longtime Athletic Director

The Knox Community School Corporation will say goodbye to its longtime athletic director this summer. The school board Tuesday officially accepted the retirement of Phil Owens, effective June 30.

Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart recognized Owens for his years of service. “And I am told that he was the elementary P.E. teacher before becoming A.D,” he added. “I don’t know if the board was aware of that, but, like, [Elementary School Assistant Principal] Cory Masson, he had Phil as his P.E. teacher. And I believe we counted 22 years as athletic director, I believe, so we appreciate the dedication.”

High School Principal Dr. Elizabeth Ratliff also thanked Owens, and added that he’ll be missed.
