The West Central School Board members took action Thursday night to hire a new elementary school principal.
Michael Carlson will be taking over the position from Dan Zylstra. Zylstra will be the corporation’s new superintendent beginning July 1.
Carlson spent the last two years as an instructional coach at the North White School Corporation, providing feedback to teachers and analyzing data. He also taught various grade levels for six years at North White and spent one year as a teacher at Pioneer Schools.
Zylstra said that Carlson “has the instructional vision to take West Central Elementary to the next level.”
Carlson’s hire was unanimously approved by the school board.
