The Hamlet Park Board’s wish list of projects could become a reality, if the Constellation of Starke region is designated a Stellar Community. During an update to the town council Tuesday, Ron Gifford with the Starke County Economic Development Foundation said that communities around the county are working with planning consultant DLZ to come up with projects that might be eligible for Stellar funding.
Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts made some suggestions on behalf of the Town of Hamlet. “We talked about our park,” she told council members. “Some of the things that we discussed at our last meeting, that’s kind of what I went and talked to them about. Really, for the town, that’s about all we can afford through Stellar because we do have to have the match. So our park will be the one thing that, hopefully, we get. And then housing, that’s for all the communities, definitely. But mainly the Town Park.”
Some of the potential improvements discussed during last month’s park board meeting included upgrades to the skate park, a new walking trail, and maybe even a splash pad.
