A small airplane crash in Starke County Sunday evening left one person injured. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 7:30 p.m. near U.S. 35 and County Road 800 South. When emergency crews arrived, they reportedly found a crop dusting plane in a field.
The Sheriff’s Office says the pilot sustained severe injuries but was conscious. At the time the reason for the crash is unknown. He was airlifted from the scene by Medflight.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety have both been notified. The Bass Lake Fire Department and Starke County EMS assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
