The Pulaski County Commissioners considered a recommendation for a new Veteran’s Service Officer Monday morning.
The county has had a temporary Veteran’s Service Officer in place since September. The commissioners decided in May that Northwest District Officer for the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Tom White interview the two candidates who expressed interest in the job.
During Monday’s meeting, Auditor Laura Wheeler noted that White recommended the hire of Barney Frain as the Veteran’s Service Officer. The commissioners approved the recommendation.
Frain will work part-time in the position and expects to catch up to the extensive processes to assist veterans with the explanation of state and federal laws, help veterans with complicated paperwork, and handle sensitive medical records.
