1st Source Bank Donates Backpack Reflectors to Area Schools

Representatives from 1st Source Bank went to several school locations on Thursday to drop off a donation of reflectors for elementary school students to put on their backpacks.

This safety feature allows the student to choose a flashing function, a strobe-like function or a solid glow to alert drivers that they are on the move to and from school.

Oregon-Davis School Superintendent Dr. Don Harman said it’s a great safety device for the students.

“The reflectors will be a great resource and an opportunity to protect our children,” said Dr. Harman.

Knox Community School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart commented that the corporation is grateful to 1st Source Bank for the donation.

“These reflectors that the kids will use on their backpacks will help keep them identified when it’s dark in the mornings, when they’re getting on the bus and in the late afternoon when it’s starting to get darker out,” said Dr. Reichhart.  “We’re very pleased.  They’ll be fun.  I think the kids will enjoy having them.  When they’re all flashing it should help the drivers going by to see the kids walking down the roads.”

1st Source Bank Vice President and Certified Relationship Manager Brad Bucher and Assistant Vice President Judy Caudill dropped off over 1,000 reflectors to both school corporations and said the financial institution is mindful of the importance of safety for our area students.

“At 1st Source Bank, we’re happy to be a part of it, to be a part of our community, and to help the safety of our children and anybody else who may wear them too,” commented Bucher.

Caudill continued, “We’re just happy to have been part of this project.  The most important thing is the safety of our kids.  If we can do any small part in the community to help with the safety of our kids, to make drivers more aware that the kids are out there, that’s what we’re looking to do.”

1st Source officials will also drop off the reflectors at other schools in their service area.  Students will get the reflectors next week on the first day of school.
