A fundraiser to help gather funds to place Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in police patrol cars in La Porte County is set for Sunday, Sept. 8.
The Bolt for the Heart Family 5K will be in Michigan City’s Washington Park at a time yet to be determined.
The Bolt for the Heart organization and partners placed nearly 2,000 AEDs in police cars in Indiana in recent events. About 460 of those are in Indiana State Police vehicles.
The goal of September’s event is to raise enough money to purchase 150 AEDs for the Kingsford Heights Police Department, La Porte City Police Department, Michigan City Police Department, Long Beach Police Department, Purdue Northwest Police Department, Westville Police Department, and the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department.
Individual entries for the event are $30, but there are several options to choose from in terms of registration. Visit www.boltfortheheart.com for more information.
