Generous Donation Takes Care of Some Delinquent Lunch Accounts at Knox Schools

Many Knox students with existing delinquent lunch account balances will start off the school year with a clean slate thanks to a generous donation from the First National Bank of Monterey.

When Knox School Board members met Tuesday night, a donation totaling $2,617.69 came before members for approval. When one member addressed the oddly specific number, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart commented on the amount.

He explained that a bank representative called and asked for the actual dollar and cents amount for every overdrawn account belonging to students who receive free and reduced lunch.

Dr. Reichhart noted, “Every students’ account that had free and reduced that had money owed, they paid off.”

Members provided unanimous approval for the donation and thanked the bank for their contribution.
