Pulaski County Treasurer’s Office to Get Outside Help in Dealing with Mortgage Companies

The Pulaski County Treasurer’s Office is getting some help in dealing with mortgage companies. Last week, the county commissioners gave Treasurer Teresa Bryant permission to enter into a one-year contract with a company called GovTech Services.

“We’re having a lot of issues with underpayments, over-payments, also refunds where maybe they didn’t send enough or they sent too much, things like that,” Bryant told the commissioners.

She said the outside help should make the process go more smoothly, especially with the larger companies that have hundreds of mortgages. “What they do is they would contact them to get our information, as far as our payments, and that’s uploaded every day, so that they know exactly what’s still owed on a piece of property that they’re asking about,” Bryant explained. “It may alleviate some of the sheriff’s sales, things like that, or maybe keep that flowing a little bit more, instead of them email us and asking us for the information.”

Bryant said the contract won’t cost the county anything. Instead, GovTech will charge the mortgage companies directly.
