South Bend Girl Flown to Hospital, Following Head-On Crash in San Pierre

A 17-year-old South Bend girl is in stable condition, after a head-on crash in San Pierre Sunday morning. Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin says it happened around 9:00 a.m. at U.S. 421 and Ann Street.

Officers believe the girl was driving a Ford Ranger southbound on U.S. 421, when she crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck pulling a camper, which, in turn, hit a vehicle waiting at the stop sign. San Pierre and North Judson-Wayne Township Firefighters had to extricate the girl, according to a Facebook post from the North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department. Dulin says she was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital, while everyone else involved reported minor injuries.
