Starke County Awarded $1 Million to Combat Opioid Crisis

U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-IN) announced the award of a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Porter-Starke Services and the Starke Taskforce for Overdose Prevention (STOP) to help combat the opioid crisis in Starke County.

Information released about the grant indicated that the funding will support a plan developed by STOP representatives to address gaps in several areas including prevention, treatment, workforce development, recovery services, and access to care.  The funding will cover a three-year period. 

Todd Willis, Director of Prevention and Education at Porter-Starke Services, coordinates the STOP organization which includes 20 community representatives from different facets of community outreach.
