The search for a missing North Judson man has expanded across Illinois. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department has been investigating the disappearance of 56-year-old James Runkle since Saturday.
On Wednesday, Sheriff Bill Dulin said he has confirmed that Runkle has been to a BP gas station in Savanna, Illinois. That’s in the western portion of the state along the Mississippi River. Dulin says the Silver Alert will be distributed to law enforcement in that area.
This follows a large-scale search that’s been taking place locally. Dulin says “a multitude of agencies” have taken part, looking at all the waterways, parks, and recreation areas. The sheriff adds that his officers have been following up on multiple leads every day since Runkle was reported missing and they’ll continue to follow up on any tips.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Starke County Sheriff’s Department at 574-772-3771.
Runkle is a white male who is approximately 6’2”, around 210 pounds, with a bald head and brown eyes. He was driving a black 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup truck with an orange kayak in the back with an Indiana license plate that reads BLT662.
