The City of Knox was recently awarded more than $420,000 in the most recent round of the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program.
Mayor Dennis Estok informed city council members Tuesday night that they were awarded funding for all the work that was requested.
Officials will be required to pay a 25 percent match on the total amount of $420,034.22 which will come to approximately $105,000.
The work that will be done with the Community Crossings funds will involve two different types of projects.
There will be a mill and fill project which will include S. East Street from John to SR 8, S. Prettyman Street from Danker to SR 8, E. Ellis Street from Prettyman to the east end and East New York Street from Pearl to the east end.
The mill and fill project will also be conducted on Council Street from SR 8 to Airway Drive, Mound Street from US 35 to Shield Street, N. Shield Street from Mound to Washington, Potter Street from East Street to US 35 and Potter Street from Main to Bower.
The other type will be an overlay project and that will include S. Bower Street from John to Culver Road, W. Leo Street from Bower to Main, W. Madison Street from Bower to S. Roosevelt Road and W. New York Street from Shield to Fisher.
The overlay project will also involve Denney Street from Culver Road to Binkley Drive, Binkley Drive starting at 300 E, Bridge Street beginning at Water Street and 500 E. from SR 8 to the City limits.
City Street Superintendent Jeff Borg shared that those projects will be bid out to contractors in the coming months and work will begin next spring.
