Knox Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston addressed the City’s trash service ordinance during the most recent Board of Works meeting.
Mayor Dennis Estok informed members that an individual approached him with a request to opt-out of the City’s trash service even though they live within the City limits. He encouraged them to come before the Board of Works to address the topic but they did not attend last Wednesday’s meeting.
In response to the request to no longer receive the service, Clerk-Treasurer Houston noted that City residents are required, by ordinance, to pay for trash pick-up regardless of whether they choose to utilize it or not.
