Knox Mayor Dennis Estok recently informed City Council members that the City made an offer on the former Moose Lodge and it was accepted.
Mayor Estok explained the purchase is being made through the Redevelopment Commission and will be paid for with TIF funds.
Estok commented on the building, which is situated at 115 N. Main Street, stating that it is an ideal location to play a part in future plans for development.
He explained, “It’ll be a part of revitalizing the downtown area when the time comes.”
Estok noted that there’s a chance that officials would also entertain the possibility of leasing or renting the facility. However, no official decisions related to the use of the building have been made just yet.
Councilman Jeff V. Berg shared that the associated papers were officially signed and the deal was closed on Thursday, September 26th.
