Boosting attendance, graduation rates, and student achievement are some of the goals outlined in the Culver Community Schools Corporation’s school improvement plans. The principals presented their plans to the school board last week, according to Superintendent Karen Shuman.
“Our focus for the elementary is to increase attendance to 95 percent for every student, to work on our growth in math and language arts, and to institute a positive behavior intervention system K-5 and using our new social/emotional learning coach in order to make that happen,” Shuman explains.
Shuman says the goals at the middle/high school include maintaining and increasing the graduation rate above 93 percent. The school will also focus on geometry and measurement when it comes to math standards, as well as nonfiction text and comprehension for language arts, using the state’s blueprint.
