Waste Management Proposes Splitting Up Recycling Route for City of Knox

Knox City Council members considered a proposal from Waste Management related to the recycling route when members met on Tuesday.

According to a letter that was sent to Mayor Dennis Estok, the company is having difficulty completing the current recycling route due to increased participation.

In order to help accommodate more recyclers they asked City officials to consider allowing the route to be split up, similar to how trash pick-up is conducted.

Right now, Junk Removal Philadelphia Kings picks up recycling for the entire city every other Wednesday. With their proposal, they would continue to provide every other week recycling services to all residents on Wednesdays but half of the city would be serviced each Wednesday.

For instance, Monday trash route customers would be serviced one week and then Thursday trash route customers would be serviced the following pick-up day.

Waste Management officials noted that would mean that half of the City’s residents would still be on the exact same schedule and the other half of the City would move to the opposite Wednesday.

They added that they feel the change will allow them to provide the best possible service to all Knox residents.

City Council members voted unanimously to move forward with the proposal. Waste Management intends to mail a collection calendar to all residents in advance of the change and would supply the same schedule to officials so it can be posted on the City’s website as well.
