The West Central School Corporation may look into switching vendors when it comes to maintenance service for the campus’ wind turbine.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra told the school board last week that during the recent State School Boards Convention he held a conversation with a Performance Services and the five districts that bought wind turbines when West Central purchased its structure about maintenance contracts. Zylstra said the corporation is going to “shop around” to make sure the school is getting the best service available.
“We all talked and while there are some good things about the contract with the company that provides service right now we’re just going to kind of look around and see if there might be better options,” stated Zylstra.
The wind turbine was out of commission for much of July and wasn’t generating electricity as crews attempted repairs. During the board’s meeting in September, Zylstra said production was much better in August after the repairs were made.
