A Westville Correctional Facility Maintenance worker was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 3 following an investigation into suspected trafficking of drugs and a cell phone into the Westville Correctional Facility.
According to information released by facility officials, 20-year-old Joshua Spyker, of Westville, was arrested and booked into the La Porte County Jail on pending charges of trafficking a controlled substance, trafficking a cellular device, and bribery, all Level 5 Felonies.
Spyker was hired in January of this year as a maintenance foreman and is on suspension pending criminal charges, according to officials. Formal criminal charges will be determined by the La Porte County Prosecutor’s Office.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
