Michigan City Man Arrested in Connection with Wanatah Bank Robbery

A Michigan City man has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s bank robbery in Wanatah. LaPorte County Police say Terry A. West Jr., 44, has formally been arrested for the Level 5 felony of robbery, following a formal police interview.

The robbery reportedly happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Horizon Bank on West First Street. Officers say a vehicle matching a witness’s description led Porter County Police on a pursuit along State Road 49 and U.S. 12, before one suspect was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m.

A second person who was in the vehicle before the chase began was later picked up by police near State Road 49 and the Indiana Toll Road. Police say the second person was also interviewed but later released.

Officers believe West is also linked to robberies that happened Sunday at the Lighthouse Liquor store in Michigan City and the Smoke Shop in Trail Creek.
