The West Central School Board members were updated on discussions surrounding improvements around the U.S. 421 and State Road 14 intersection north of the school corporation.
Several accidents have happened in that area with two serious crashes in the past several months. Superintendent Dan Zylstra said preliminary improvements have taken place there.
“The State has done some repainting in the intersection,” mentioned Zylstra. “They are going to do a traffic study to look at that intersection more closely. I know Representative [Doug] Gutwein would like a four-way stop at that intersection, but we certainly want to let the Department of Transportation look into it. They’re going to have their recommendations as well.”
Zylstra said the school board doesn’t have a particular stance on the matter.
“I wouldn’t say they have a specific thing that they want, but they would like more of a controlled intersection,” commented Zylstra.
More updates will be provided once more planning is done.
