Jon Frain Named Next Pulaski County Coroner

Jon Frain addresses Pulaski County Republican Precinct Committee members during Monday’s caucus

Jon Frain has officially been selected as the next Pulaski County coroner. He was the only candidate in a Republican Party caucus Monday.

Going forward, Frain says compassion for families and teamwork with law enforcement agencies are two of his big priorities. “I just want to maintain that integrity of the office, make sure that the office is fully up to compliance with any regulatory issues that we’ve worked on in the past with the county council and county commissioners. So there are some things we might need to look at, but on the whole, just maintaining that good positive relationship with others and treating people the way they should be treated.]

Frain has been serving as outgoing coroner John Behny’s chief deputy. Now, he’ll fill the remainder of Behny’s term once he retires at the end of the year.

During Monday’s caucus, Frain told precinct committee members that he’s also agreed to take Behny’s seat on a statewide domestic violence task force, and he’ll continue to serve on committees established by the Indiana Funeral Directors Association and the Indiana Donor Network.

Frain said that the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office has responded to 45 calls in 2019, with two of the big concerns being the county’s drug problem and the number of middle age and older men dying by suicide.

Republican Party Chair Dan Murphy also thanked Behny for his service, saying that “he’s improved the professionalism of the office and made it something to be proud of.”
