There are openings on the Knox Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Redevelopment Commission for next year.
While current seated board and commission members may be given preference for subsequent terms, individuals are still encouraged to throw their hat in the ring for open positions.
Mayor Dennis Estok told City Council members Tuesday night that individuals who want to get involved can submit a letter of interest to his office. He provided some additional information which stated that LOIs must be submitted by the close of business on Monday, January 6th.
Qualifications vary by position and can include professional accreditation or residency requirements.
Since certain entities must be balanced, political affiliation is sometimes taken into consideration as well. Party affiliation is determined by the most recent primary election that someone voted in or through a letter of support provided by the respective party chair.
