A collapsed drain will undergo repairs after Culver Utility Superintendent Bob Porter found high water issues on a piece of property owned by the Town of Culver on State Road 10.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council last week that the area is known as the old fish hatchery, and noted the drain is owned by the county.
“The drain, basically, runs north and south on our property and about three-fourths of the west end of that property we don’t have access to right now because of standing water from the drain failing,” commented Leist. “North of there is also backed up to where there’s several feet of water. They would like to see it repaired, if possible.”
Leist said he talked with Marshall County Surveyor Craig Cultice to discuss how to proceed with repairs. According to Cultice, Leist explained that the Surveyor’s Office will pay for the labor for repairs while the town would need to pay for any needed materials.
Leist obtained two quotes for materials with the lowest quote coming from Utility Supply in the amount of $3,282.80.
The town council members unanimously approved the quote so the work can get underway.
