Oregon-Davis School Board Accepts Donations for Lunch Accounts, Music Department

The Oregon-Davis School Board accepted more than $2,100 in donations last week. A large chunk of that was for student lunch accounts, including $500 from VFW Post #748, $400 from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, and $250 from an anonymous donor. The Knox Masonic Lodge donated $665 for the schools’ music department, and Farm Fertilizers provided more than $200 for the Oregon-Davis FFA chapter.

There were also anonymous donations to the elementary and junior/senior high school student councils. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says it’s for when students raked leaves during the school corporation’s community service day. Some of the donations were part of larger fundraising efforts that benefited schools around Starke County.

Harman says the school board also passed a pair of annual resolutions allowing school officials to make transfers to balance budget items before the end of the year.
