A major equipment purchase for the Pulaski County Highway Department attracted only one bid. On Monday, Commissioner Kenny Becker opened the lone bid for a chip spreader, which came from Southeastern.
“The total price was $223,000,” Becker said. “The trade-in allowance was $30,000. The difference is $193,000.”
The commissioners agreed to table the bid, to give Highway Superintendent Gary Kruger a chance to make sure it meets all of his specifications. He noted that he does have money for the purchase in his budget.
The commissioners also authorized Kruger to get two quotes for repairs to a Highway Garage heating unit and choose the lower one.
