Starke County government leaders asked Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Larry Wickert about the status of filling the vacant grocery store in North Judson.
Starke County Councilman Freddie Baker told Wickert at the most recent joint session of the council and commissioners that five North Judson individuals approached him upset that there isn’t a grocery store in North Judson.
Wickert said, “I’m going to try and reach out to different grocery entities to see if there’s anybody we can encourage to come here.”
During the Dec. 2 meeting of the North Judson Town Council, it was mentioned that the property on Lane Street is listed for sale. Wickert said then that one of the challenges will be finding someone who will be willing to make the necessary upgrades that are needed at the structure.
An update will be given in a future meeting.
