The Comfort Closet initiated at the West Central High School in the fall is a success.
West Central Middle/High School Principal Scott Ritchie told the West Central School Board members on Thursday night that it’s been beneficial to several families.
“Our Comfort Closet has served over 90 families since its inception last year,” commented Ritchie.
The concept behind the idea of the Comfort Closet is to provide students with items that they might not be able to get outside of school. The student may anonymously select items to help them in their everyday lives.
Donations are accepted at any time. Some of the suggested non-food items include shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, hair brushes, and feminine products. Snack donations may consist of apple sauce, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, canned vegetables, cereal, macaroni and cheese, pudding cups, jerky, packaged tuna, pasta, trail mix, and cookies to name a few.
