Eastern Pulaski’s new school superintendent is settling into the job. Dara Chezem told the school board Monday that her year has gotten off to a great start.
“I have officially been here for just under two weeks, and I’ve got everything unpacked so far; I’m not sure I can find everything in my office and my home,” she said. “But I just want to thank everybody. The community has been very welcoming, and I’m excited to be here.”
Chezem said she’s met with about 40 staff members so far, with many more scheduled. She takes over the superintendent’s job from Dan Foster, who resigned last June. Dr. Gib Crimmins then served as interim superintendent.
The rest of the school corporation’s leadership is staying the same for 2020. Treasurer Angie Anspach and Deputy Treasurer Stefanie Grandstaff were reappointed by the school board Monday. Tim Murray will continue serving as school board attorney on an as-needed basis.
Board President Deke DeMarco, Vice President Beth Ruff, and Secretary Tim Rausch were all reelected. Board members also agreed to keep their annual pay at $2,000 and to continue holding regular meetings on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. ET.
