Representatives from the Indiana Public Employers’ Plan (IPEP) visited the City of Knox Tuesday morning to deliver a check to city officials.
IPEP Sales Rep Craig Barnhart and Senior Risk Management Specialist Nevena Stanley presented the check to Knox Mayor Dennis Estok and Fire Chief Kenny Pfost who were joined by Christin Romine from First Source Insurance.
As reminder, this grant was sought out by former Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston. He previously told city council members that the grant itself is worth $14,400 and will require a $3,600 match which will be taken out of the Fire Department’s equipment budget.
Fire Chief Pfost commented that he will be able to purchase three thermal imaging cameras with the funds.
One thing that Barnhart stressed is that while their grant can assist emergency responders, it is available to all municipal departments that are covered by IPEP. That means that any department looking to receive financial assistance with safety equipment or training would be eligible for the funding opportunity.
