Over a Pound and Half of Meth Reportedly Discovered During Starke County Traffic Stop

Two individuals were taken into custody after Starke County Sheriff’s Department Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 29th.

According to a report issued by Sheriff Bill Dulin, a Starke County Deputy witnessed the driver of vehicle throw an object out of their window while they were initiating the stop.

Once the vehicle stopped, a Deputy spoke with the two male occupants. At this time, the Deputy apparently learned that the object thrown from the vehicle was a back pack which reportedly contained 1.7 pounds of methamphetamine.

The report goes on to say that the driver, 45-year-old Robert “Bobby” Conley, and the passenger 26-year-old Josh Muzik, both of Monticello, were placed under arrest for dealing methamphetamine  and were taken to the Starke County Justice Center where they were booked.

Authorities report that Conley was also charged with possession of methamphetamine since he also allegedly had 1.9 grams of the substance on his person.

Due to the large quantity of weight, Conley and Muzik may face federal charges.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Knox City and North Judson Police Departments.

Authorities remind readers/listeners that these are preliminary charges and all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
