Knox Mayor Dennis Estok discussed plans for the annual Fall Bash when the City Council met last Tuesday.
He took a minute to acknowledge his Administrative Assistant Peg Travis and City Attorney Autumn Ferch for the work they did to obtain the $3,000 Rural Indiana Performance Fund grant that will help pay for the band ‘Magic Bus’ to provide entertainment during the event.
The Mayor also mentioned that in addition to the live music and craft-beer garden that have been featured in recent years, he has a few new ideas that he’d like to incorporate into Fall Bash in 2020.
He noted, “What we also want to do is have a Knox Alumni Reunion down there at the same time, we’re trying to organize that.”
Additionally, he thought a charitable chili-cook off could be added in as well and noted that they’re still searching for a non-profit organization who would like to organize that and use it as an opportunity to raise funds.
Another idea that Mayor Estok touched on was bringing back ‘WoodStarke’, which was previously held around the same time.
He explained, “There is a small group that’s trying to bring that back, theirs is in the fall too. They do something a little bit different than what Fall Bash is about but they used to bring a crowd in.”
Mayor Estok indicated that adding in those extra elements would be beneficial for everyone involved.
He stated, “If we can get that in there and then, like I said, we have a great band coming and then if we can get a chili cook off going with the craft beer and all that, I think it’ll be a really great day.”
As of right now, an official date has not been released but Fall Bash is typically held during the month of September. If you’re interested in learning more or helping out, contact the Knox Mayor’s Office at 772-4553.
