The Starke County Park Board will hold its first meeting of 2020 tonight. Board members will likely choose their president, vice president, and secretary for the year.
A couple of ongoing concerns at the Bass Lake Beach and Campground may be addressed, as well. Board members have been discussing a possible increase in electrical capacity in the back half of the campground since August. The facility’s operator, Callahan Development LLC, wants the county to cover the $7,800 cost as a deduction in the company’s rent payment. But board members wanted to figure out exactly how much of a credit Callahan has already gotten from the county, before approving it.
Last month, the park board also expressed concern that repairs to the Bass Lake Beach gate house weren’t completed correctly, after it was struck by a pickup truck in 2017. Board members agreed to research how the $2,500 insurance check the county received was spent.
