Starke County Tourism’s ‘Spring Has Sprung Bloomer Run’ to Benefit Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum

The Starke Tourism Board is hosting their first annual ‘Spring has Sprung Bloomer Run’ this April.

Event organizers are asking people to purchase or make a pair of old fashioned bloomers to wear during the race. A cash prize will be awarded to the runner with the most unusual pair.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 25th and will run along the Erie Trail in North Judson. A portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, which is where the race will begin.

Pre-registration has already started. Participants can sign up for a 1 Mile Fun Walk and Run for $15 or if they’d like a bit more of a challenge, a 5K will be held as well and people can pre-register for that for $20.

Pre-registration includes one t-shirt per ticket but only if the purchase occurs by Tuesday, March 10th.

Forms can be filled out online through Eventbrite or hard copies can be picked up at the Starke County Tourism Office located in the Nickel Plate Depot at 400 N Heaton Street.

Officials are still seeking sponsors for the event. There are a few spaces remaining on the shirts and other opportunities are available as well. Businesses can provide a contribution to sponsor the medals or a sign.

Additional volunteers for the day-of are also needed.

If you’re interested in serving as a sponsor or volunteer, call 574-772-5548.
