LaPorte County Police made two separate arrests for drug-related offenses Tuesday on the Indiana Toll Road. Officers say Amanda J. Salmons, 34, of Cortland, Ohio is accused of the Level 5 felony of dealing in marijuana, after a traffic stop allegedly turned up a large quantity of the drug.

Less then two hours later, deputies say they pulled over another vehicle and found an illegal drug and a firearm. The driver, Tshaka M. Brown, 34, of Webster, New York, was arrested. He faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana.

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says the arrests came as a result of the Domestic Highway Enforcement program, an effort aimed at disrupting the flow of drugs and weapons. It’s one of the programs put in place as part of LaPorte County’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area designation.
